According to my arc, the "big idea" is that Jesus came to fulfill the law. He then infers three things from that. 1. Nothing in the Law will pass away until all is accomplished. 2. We must both do and teach the Law. 3. Our righteousness needs to exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Preaching Points: 1. Jesus fulfilled the ceremonial and civil law but the Moral Law (10 Commandments) remains and must still be obeyed. 2. We have a responsibility to teach and do the Law as a means of showing the grace of God. We cannot follow it in our own power so if we do obey it is an evidence of Grace. 3. We cannot rely on our own ability because our righteousness will never exceed the scribes and Pharisees. We must have perfect righteousness imputed to us.
