In restoring Israel, God is also concerned about taking a people for Himself from among the nations.

The more severe judgment: a famine of God's word.

Israel called to know that God has the power to bring about the judgment He has announced.

The certainty of the Lord's calling was Amos' defense.

Israel's complacency and decadent lifestyle stifled compassion, justice and righteousness.

Pursue the weightier provisions of the law.

God is not silent. He declares His thoughts to man.

The Lord has spoken! Who can but prophesy?

To catch his hearers' attention, Amos first proclaims the Lord's judgment on seven of Israel's neighbors.

We can fight sin be meditating on God's faithfulness. Here Israel did not do this.

Israel cast down and silenced justice because they forgot that the Lord is the Lord of creation and human history.

Five commands, which, when followed, will bring about the presence of God in our lives.

God's authority given to us is for building up and not tearing down.

The answer to adversaries is God's presence and His leading.

When leaders turn to worthless desires, David prays, and God's answer is great joy.

In the midst of many adversaries, David expresses his trust in the Lord.

God's response to the rebellion of the nations is to laugh.

Those that love the law of the Lord will be blessed and will prosper, but the wicked will perish.
