First class conditional assumed to be true from the author's perspective.
How do we seek the things above? It appears that we do this by setting our minds on these things.
What are the things above? In Mt 16:23 and Mk 8:33 Simon Peter is rebuked for not setting his mind on God's interests. Rm 8:5 says that those that are of the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. In Phil 4:8 Paul gives us list of things we are to dwell on.
Why are these three facts, 1) we are dead, 2) our lives are hidden in Christ and 3) when He returns, we will be revealed in glory, reasons to set our minds on the things above? In Eph 2:4-7 we learn that although we were dead in sin, God has raised us up and we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. Then in Eph 4:1 Paul implores us to therefore walk in a manner worthy of this calling. God expects our walk on earth to match the spiritual reality of our salvation.
