The Renewal of the Minister

God has prepared an eternal dwelling for Christians and given us the Spirit as a pledge. This allows us not to lose heart in decay-causing affliction, but to be renewed daily as we look to God in our afflictions, which are bring us into God's presence - everlasting glory.

Paul explains that the decay is caused by the afflictions which are in turn producing the renewal / glory.

How does affliction produce eternal glory? Glory is he presence of God. Thus Paul is saying that affliction is producing the presence of God - in other words it is leading us into God's presence or allowing us to experience His presence. This happens as we "look at the things which are not seen" - when we look past our afflictions to God.
