Meditations
We all plot. That is, we all set our minds on something. What are we after? Is it our own honor and privilege? Mark 10:35-45 presents us with a different way to live— the ambition cycle of Jesus . Here is how it works. When you want to be great, do not grasp it (or even strive toward it) but relinquish it and aim to live as slave of all. And then when you get forgetful of this new aim, or your purpose of being slave of all subtly turns into a means to be a lord, relinquish it again and reset your heart. Why such an upside-down ambition cycle? Because our lives are woven together with Jesus. And because so he has done for us. True, there is a day when honor will be given. But you are not the judge. God alone will decide and it will be right in all of our eyes, because it will be right. So let us not go there now. Let us rather entrust judgment and honor to God, and aim to live as servants of all, just like our Lord Jesus.
