Does the Lord delight in the life you have chosen? Does he delight in the path you walk today? This is not a question of checking a box or living in accord to a standard. This is a question of how the living God looks upon you—and it is a question of critical importance. Many people are full of confidence in the life they have chosen. Others have earned the confidence of those around them and are well known as faithful. But only God knows whether you have fooled yourself and others, or whether you truly walk in integrity. He sees your path as you wake and greet your family. He sees your path as you drive to work. He sees your path of diligence or laziness, uprightness or underhandedness. He sees your eyes fixed on your wife or wandering to others. God sees your way—does he desire it? In just a couple hours I will go to another funeral. Life "falls" are inevitable, especially the last fall to the grave. This is true no matter who you are; whether God delights in your way or not. The difference comes in the nature of the fall. Are you one walking in your own strength? Then do not be surprised when a small stone in the path leaves you bloody and bruised—the severity of your fall increased by the weight of that strength as gravity kicks in. Do you walk with the support of your friends? With small missteps they may help, but when the serious pits of life are laid before you, they will merely join you in your fall. But for those whose way is the delight of the Lord, we hold the hand of the Mighty God. While we trip, we shall never be cast headlong. As a father holding the hand of a toddler, God is strong to uphold us no matter how dramatic the stumble—even as our foot slips to the grave. Let us delight ourselves in the Lord that he may indeed delight in our way.
