Galatians 2:1

Then after fourteen years
Ἔπειτα διὰ δεκατεσσάρων ἐτῶν
I went up again
πάλιν ἀνέβην
to Jerusalem
εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα
with Barnabas,
μετὰ Βαρναβᾶ
taking Titus along with me.
συμπαραλαβὼν καὶ Τίτον·
The preposition is usually translated "through" but here it doesnt fit. Also the fourteen and the years are in the genitive. When do we drop of the "of" while translating. A translation "Then [through] [of] 14 years doesnt sound right
The "again" is clear. A very basic question here: The verb "to go up" is clear. But how did the personal pronoun get added. is this how verbs are constructed?
Would it be right to say that the verb here is the main verb of the verse?
Whαt role is the και playing here. Translating it doesnt sound right. So what is its connecting function here?
my translation: Then [through] [of] 14 years again I went up into Jerusalem with Barnabas [and??] I took with me Titus

You haven't learned participles yet, but συμπαραλαβὼν is a participle, and so should be translated in English ending in "-ing": "taking."
Brent Karding
The καὶ in 1e is adverbial, and should be translated "also."
Brent Karding
You're correct that ἀνέβην is the main verb of the sentence. In this sentence, there is no other verb. (But sometimes there is; however, if another verb is in a dependent clause, one that starts with a preposition or another connector, it will not be the main verb.)

Hi Arpan! I thought I'd answer some of your questions here.

For translating a genitive when it is the object of a preposition, you don't need to include "of."
