Central Idea of the passage is Paul going to Jerusalem after 14 years to clarfy the gospel The passage on Titus Circumcission seems to have been added by Paul just in the flow of the narration of events . It seems like an unnecessary insertion but given the context of the letter to galatians being wrong teachings mainly pertaining to the following of the LAW as we see in the later chapters. So in the chapter it seems like a tangent but on seeing the whole bookit makes sense The passage on Titus Circumcission seems to have been added by Paul just in the flow of the narration of events . Then after an interval of fourteen years
Then after fourteen years
I went up again
I went up again

with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.

But not even Titus,
But even Titus,
though he was a Greek
though he was a Greek.
who was with me,
who was with me,

was not forced to be circumcised,
But it was because of the false brethren
Yet because of false brothers
secretly brought in,
secretly brought in--
who had sneaked in
who slipped in
to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus,
to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus,
in order to bring us into bondage.
so that they might bring us into slavery--
But we did not yield in subjection to them
to them we did not yield in submission
for even an hour,
even for a moment,
so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.
so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

But from those
And from those
who were of high reputation
who seemed to be influential

(what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)--
well, those who were of reputation
those, I say, who seemed influential
contributed nothing to me.
added nothing to me.
But on the contrary,
On the contrary,
seeing that
when they saw that
I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised,
I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised,
just as Peter had been to the circumcised
just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised

who worked through Peter
in his apostleship to the circumcised
for his apostolic ministry to the circumcised

worked also through me for mine

to the Gentiles),
James and Cephas and John,
and when James and Cephas and John,
who were reputed to be pillars
who seemed to be pillars,
recognizin,g the grace that had been given to me,
perceived the grace that was given to me,
gave to me and Barnabas
they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me,
that we might go to the Gentiles
that we should go to the Gentiles
and they to the circumcised.
and they to the circumcised.

They only asked us
Only, they asked us

to remember the poor,
the very thing I also was eager to do.
the very thing I was eager to do.
