Now the birth of Jesus 1 Christ was as follows: when His a mother Mary had been 2 betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was b found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.
Τοῦ δὲ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ἡ γένεσις οὕτως ἦν.
Now the birth of u Jesus Christ 1 took place in this way. v When his mother Mary had been betrothed 2 to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child w from the Holy Spirit.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way. While his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came together, 12 she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus:
μνηστευθείσης τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ Μαρίας τῷ Ἰωσήφ, πρὶν ἢ συνελθεῖν αὐτοὺς
When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together,
εὑρέθη ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσα ἐκ πνεύματος ἁγίου.
she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.

And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned 1 a to send her away secretly.
Ἰωσὴφ δὲ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς,
And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling x to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.
Because Joseph, her husband to be, 13 was a righteous man, and because he did not want to disgrace her, he intended to divorce her 14 privately.
Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yetdid not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
Now Joseph her husband,
δίκαιος ὢν καὶ μὴ θέλων αὐτὴν δειγματίσαι,
being righteous and not wishing to make an example of her,

But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “ a Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for 1 the Child who has been 2 conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

But as he considered these things, behold, y an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
When he had contemplated this, an 15 angel of the Lord 16 appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
Now when he conceived this,
She will bear a Son; and a you shall call His name Jesus, for 1 He b will save His people from their sins.”
ἰδοὺ ἄγγελος κυρίου κατʼ ὄναρ ἐφάνη αὐτῷ λέγων•
She will bear a son, and z you shall call his name Jesus, a for he will save his people from their sins.”
She will give birth to a son and you will name him 17 Jesus, 18 because he will save his people from their sins.”
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying,
Ἰωσὴφ υἱὸς Δαυίδ, μὴ φοβηθῇς παραλαβεῖν Μαρίαν τὴν γυναῖκά σου•
"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary as your wife,
τὸ γὰρ ἐν αὐτῇ γεννηθὲν ἐκ πνεύματός ἐστιν ἁγίου.
for that which was begotten in her is from the Holy Spirit.

τέξεται δὲ υἱόν,
Now she will bear a son,
καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰησοῦν•
and you shall call his name Jesus,
αὐτὸς γὰρ σώσει τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν.

ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν ὑπὸ κυρίου διὰ τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος•
in order to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
“ a Behold , the virgin shall be with b child and shall bear a Son , and they shall call His name 1 Immanuel ,” which translated means, “ c God with us .”
ἰδοὺ ἡ παρθένος ἐν γαστρὶ ἕξει
d “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name e Immanuel” (which means, God f with us).
“ Look! The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him 19 Emmanuel ,” 20 which means 21 “ God with us .” 22
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
"Behold, the virgin will conceive
καὶ τέξεται υἱόν,
and bear a son,
καὶ καλέσουσιν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἐμμανουήλ,
and they shall call his name Immanuel,
ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον μεθʼ ἡμῶν ὁ θεός.
which is translated 'God with us.'"

When Joseph awoke from sleep he did what the angel of the Lord 23 told him. He took his wife,
When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
Now Joseph, arising from his sleep, did
ὡς προσέταξεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου
as the angel of the Lord commanded him
