“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”

βάλε σεαυτὸν κάτω•
cast yourself down,
γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι
for it is written,
τοῖς ἀγγέλοις αὐτοῦ ἐντελεῖται περὶ σοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ χειρῶν ἀροῦσίν σε,
'He will command his angels concerning you, and with their hands they will bear you up,
μήποτε προσκόψῃς πρὸς λίθον τὸν πόδα σου.
lest you strike your foot against a stone.'"

τότε λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς•
Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, i Satan! For j it is written, k “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and l him only shall you serve.’”
Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, 16 Satan! For it is written: ‘ You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him .’” 17

ὕπαγε, σατανᾶ•
"Get out, Satan;
γέγραπται γάρ• κύριον τὸν θεόν σου προσκυνήσεις καὶ αὐτῷ μόνῳ λατρεύσεις.
for it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and only him shall you serve.'"
Then the devil * left Him; and behold, a angels came and began to minister to Him.
