Main point summary
Jesus said, "Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks", and He also said, "He who has been forgiven much, loves much". True obedience to God (Pure and undefiled religion) is the overflow of a heart that has been shown grace! When we recognize how helpless we were when God acted to save us, we will have a heart that loves mercy! Worthless religion is shown by an overflow of a heart that has not been born again by the Holy Spirit and does not know God's grace. We deceive ourselves if we know about God and yet have not been given new affections toward God and people! If we don't love, we very likely have not been made new, even with mental ascent to sound theology. Oh God, please give us compassion for people! Please give us more of your Holy Spirit to give us JOY and EXCITEMENT in serving others and meeting needs in Jesus Name! Help us daily to feel the grace we have been shown in Christ so that we will overflow in grace toward others!
Main point summary
True obedience to God looks like servant hearted love for those in need, but false and deceptive obedience will be marked by hypocrisy from the overflow of a wicked heart!
James 1:26-27
If anyone thinks himself to be religious,
IF anyone thinks they are obedient to God
and yet does not 1 a bridle his tongue
and SURPRISINGLY have chronically sinful speech
but deceives his own heart,
and deceives themselves BY thinking they ARE obedient while in chronic, unrepentant sinful speech, which is the overflow of an evil heart,
this man’s religion is worthless.
THEN this man's assumed obedience and right standing with God is in vain and will cause others to blaspheme the name of God by his hypocrisy.
Pure and undefiled religion a in the sight of our God and Father is this:
BUT true obedience to God looks like
to b visit c orphans and widows in their distress,
serving orphans and widows in need, fulfilling the law of Christ, the law of love!
and to keep oneself unstained 1 by d the world.
AND guarding your heart and mind from loving the world and being conformed to it!
