What is on Pauls mind when he says "our weaknesses"?
What is the Spirit's help in our weaknesses like? In context, it is like creations and the believers groanings for the glory that will be revealed in us.
Who/What is "the Spirit"?
Intercession in Romans: 2x the Spirit 8:26, 8:27 1x Christ Jesus 8:34
The Spirit is involved in God's work of creation. Back then, when the world was formed and now in forming Christ-likeness in the children of God. 8:29 We don't have the power to create a universe like God, neither have we power to produce Christ-like character in us. Paul instructs us to cooperate in His work by reckoning or thinking God's truth is He revealed in God's Word.
Why do we not know what to pray as we ought? - Because live is very complex. We are finite beings, limited and weak, way to small to objectively and perfectly understand what is best. Whatever is best and in accordance with the will of God is often difficult to discern because of our weaknesses.
We are sometimes perplexed in our weakness, but the Spirit of God stands above that. God's purpose is set and the Spirit helps the children of God. He helps objectively in the small and big choices we make, which are in accordance to God's will, and forms Christ-like character.
discourse
Not only does creation and the child of God groan in eager expectation for the day when all weakness is done away and glory is revealed, but the Spirit also groans in intercession for the children of God. 8:26 What is on Paul's mind when he says "our weaknesses"? Weaknesses, in context with the previous verses, speaks about the fallen state of creation. B ody and soul are in a vulnerable state. Our weaknesses are not only physical but sin has affected all areas of our being. If one area of our being is affected, all other parts are weakened too. Human weakness is not sin but can lead to sin. Another dimension from Ephesians 6:10-12 could be considered at this point. Paul instructs to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, so that we stand against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this age, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. We fight not against flesh and blood but against these powers in the heavenly places. They know our weaknesses well and use them against us, desiring to make us ineffective by discouraging us. They are absolute master lairs! Sleepless nights and heartaches are not foreign to Christians and many human beings without Christ because of theses powers. Thank God, their destruction is sure. And the day is fast approaching. Why do we not know what to pray as we ought? Because live is very complex. We are finite beings, limited and weak, way to small to objectively and perfectly understand what is best. Whatever is best and in accordance with the will of God is often difficult to discern because of our weaknesses. 8:27 How does the Spirit search our hearts and knows what the His mind? When the Spirit searches us, He sees that we are sometimes perplexed in our weaknesses, but He stands above our weaknesses. God's purpose is set and the Spirit helps the children of God with that purpose. He helps objectively in the small and big choices we make, which are in accordance to God's will, and form Christ-like character. What does the Spirit's intercession for the saints lead to? The Spirit is involved in God's work of creation. Back then, when the world was formed and now in forming Christ-likeness in the children of God. 8:29 We don't have the power to create a universe like God, neither have we power to produce Christ-like character in us. Paul instructs us to cooperate in His work by reckoning or thinking truth.
