1Pe 1:3-4 ESV Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (4) to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, Wow, how beautiful and majestic this thought is. Paul tells us that what is imperishable cannot be inherited by what is perishable (1 Cor 15:50). Jesus tells us that whoever is not born again cannot enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:5). What was God our Father to do? We were born perishable. We came into this world with a life, but this life is not eternal like our Father's life. How did He fix this situation? In short, He "caused us, His elect according to His own foreknowledge, to be born again". Now we, His chosen ones, have laid up for us an imperishable inheritance. It is kept for us in heaven. We have not yet received it. 2Ti 4:8 ESV Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. 1Co 9:24-25 ESV Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. (25) Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath , but we an imperishable.
