Questions: 1) How is verse 3 relating to the rest of the sentence? Defining "why" God is to be blessed, or defining "who" Jesus Christ is? Could it potentially be situation-response? A) As per Tom in class, the situation-response is the best. This makes sense to me, although I didn't realize you could have the response prior to the situation. 2) How do the participles relate back to the verbs? Are they action-manner? A) All action manner, two temporal (all within adverbial categories). 3) Is the predestination to an inheritance? (vs 11) If so, what is the relationship? The adverbial participle certainly modifies "obtained an inheritance." We then have to ask... in what way? The predestination seems to cause the obtaining, so would that make it a ground? 4) Is "he predestined" (vs 5) parallel to the "in him" statements (vs 7, 11, 13)? Or is Paul portraying these propositions as progressive? No, this is part of a larger arc. "He predestined shows the manner in which He chose us. 5) How are the two participles and one verb in verses 13-14 relate to each other? Temporal or action/result.
