If my salvation is already complete in Christ, that means: 1. I do not have to believe anything extra for it (Philosophy) 2. I do not have to do anything extra for it (Legalism) 3. I do not hae to experience anything extra for it (Mysticism) The fact that my residence is already laid up and waiting for me, my place in heaven is as sure as if I am already there. Faith, Love, Hope, and Grace are the four basic context clue words that restate the meaning of the gospel. The gospel is a message about having Faith in Christ for forgiveness of sins, the Love of Christ for a wholesome relationship with God, ourselves and others, and Hope for a future in heaven because of Christ The Gospel Package It is: received by faith, results in love, rests in hope, reaches the world, reproduces fruit, rooted in grace, reported by men. - John MacArthur Introduction: The Gnostics believe that salvation is by knowledge gained through one's self. Christians believe that salvation is by faith gained through another person. Jesus secures our salvation. Title: The Sufficiency of the Gospel Text: Colossians 1:3-8 Topic: The Gospel Theme: When Christians realize that their place in heaven is secure because of the person and work of Christ alone ( the gospel ), they will begin to orient their present lives around that reality and love will be the inevitable fruit that follows. Outline: There are 7 aspects of the Gospel that make it sufficient for salvation to all who embrace it and follow it with their life. I. The Gospel is received by faith.(4a) II. The Gospel results in love.(4b) III. The Gospel rests in hope.(5) IV. The Gospel reaches the world.(6a) V. The Gopsel reproduces fruit.(6b) VI The Gospel is rooted in grace.(6c) VII. The Gospel is reported by men.(7) This is the gospel package and it is sufficient to complete the message of salvation for all those who embrace it.
