Luke 21:34-36
1 Peter 5:7-8
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Luke 21:34-36 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.
Be sober- minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Matthew 13:22
Observation
Note how anxiety is in all three passages, the same Greek word for anxiety is used for "cares" i.e. μέριμνα.
Three ways to deal with anxiety:
As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.
1. Drowning it by a suppressant like alcohol or drugs
2. Pretending it can be resolved by wealth. This is deceitful
3. Turning to God by casting all cares upon Him.

http://www.desiringgod.org/labs/how-not-to-battle-anxiety Lesson: To look at grouping of ideas In 1 Peter 5:7-8, there was the idea of anxiety and being alert The more familiar we are with Scripture, the more we can identify other passages with similar groupings Here, John Piper recalls Luke 21:34-36 and Matt 13:22
