What does bridling your tongue mean and what does it have to do with being religious, i.e knowing Christ? A bridle was used to control a horse or farm animal. To bridle your tongue is to keep it in check. To keep your tongue in check is a result of a changed heart and a head that is submissive to Christ.
This is very strong language- If you don't or can't control what comes out of your mouth- then this shows there is no change in your heart and you don't know Christ!
People who truly have a relationship with God the Father evidence this by the way they treat the suffering and by the way they stand out against the world and it's satanic influence.
Simply put- shut your profane mouth! Don't claim to know Christ if you can't do this. Know Him and show Him by your service and testimony.
How does one bridle his tongue to show a changed nature? The head and heart have to be bridled- or put under the influ ence of the Spitit through the Word of God. - 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, o the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, p he will be blessed in his doing.
