Main point summary
The man who rejects sinful influence and relies wholly on God's direction through His Word; This man will grow spiritually, and the Lord will love his ways. The wicked man who relies on the counsel from other wicked men, and who does sinful things, and who rejects wisdom and rebuke; This man will not grow spiritually because he has no roots. For this reason he will perish on the day of Judgement
Psalms 1:1-6
Blessed is the man 1
A man is very fortunate and happy if he
who a walks not in b the counsel of the wicked,
Does not take counsel or advice from wicked people, shows, music, etc.
nor stands in c the way of sinners,
Does not join in on the sinning of sinful men, enjoying their sinful delights
nor d sits in e the seat of f scoffers;
and Does not mock, ignore, and reject wise counsel or rebuke.
but his g delight is in the law 1 of the Lord ,
But rather, finds his happiness and pleasure and joy in God's direction.
and on his h law he meditates day and night.
thinking about it, reminding himself of it, and hoping in it at all times.
He is like i a tree planted by j streams of water that yields its fruit in its season,
This type of man is similar to a great tree that is planted by a stream and receives an abundance of nutrients from the waters, allowing it to bear much fruit at the right time of season,
and its k leaf does not wither.
and preventing it from dying, staying healthy at all times
l In all that he does, he prospers.
This man grows in everything he does. (Spiritual Growth)
The wicked are not so,
Wicked men do not grow in everything they do, as a strong tree,
but are like m chaff that the wind drives away.
but rather, these wicked men are like falloff from a wheat harvest that is of no use. The wind will blow them away. They have no roots
Therefore the wicked n will not stand in the judgment,
Because they have no roots, therefore, they will not be able to stand in God's judgment
nor sinners in o the congregation of the righteous;
nor will these sinners be able to stand with the righteous
for the Lord p knows q the way of the righteous,
For God loves the ways of the righteous man,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
But the ways of the wicked man he does not love, and they will perish in the judgment
