A religious ablution signifying purification or consecration. The natural method of cleansing the body by washing and bathing in water was always customary in Israel ( see Ablution , ). The washing of their clothes was an important means of sanctification enjoined on the Israelites before the Revelation on Mt. Sinai (Ex. xix. 10). The Rabbis connect with this the duty of bathing by complete immersion ("ṭebilah," Yeb. 46 b ; Mek., Baḥodesh, iii.); and since sprinkling with blood was always accompanied by immersion, tradition connects with this immersion the blood lustration mentioned as having also taken place immediately before the Revelation (Ex. xxiv. 8),

Ha llegado el Cordero de Dios quien quita el pecado del mundo. El es que vino antes de mi porque era antes de mí.
Yo no conocía a este hombre, pero yo bautizo en agua para que él, el que no conocía, sea dado a conocer a todo Israel. De alguna manera, el no conocer a Jesús fortalece el testimonio de Juan respecto al Mesías.
He visto que el Espíritu de Dios descendió de los cielos y se detuvo sobre este hombre. Yo no conocía quien era, pero aquel que me envió a bautizar me dijo que al ver al Espíritu Santo posarse sobre un hombre, sabría que él es el que bautiza con el Espíritu de Dios.
Yo he visto a aquel anunciado por Dios y he testificado que este es el hijo de Dios.

The argument is a little bit more complicated than that because all Elohim belong to the same class but are not the "only" son of God.

“Aquel sobre quien veas al Espíritu descender y posarse sobre El,
‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain,
éste es el que bautiza en 2 el Espíritu Santo a .”

Y yo le he visto y he dado testimonio de que éste es el Hijo de Dios a .
