Apposition = two words or phrases side by side performing the same grammatical role in a sentence. e.g. My friend, Nate is visiting . The sentence makes sense using either friend or Nate, they are equally the subject of the sentence. v.13, ' our blessed hope,' and 'the appearing of... Jesus Christ' are one and the same, placed in apposition (not opposition). v.14 has the same pattern, particularly in the greek which does not have the pronoun 'who' or the verb 'are' , but puts the two adjectives 'peculiar' and 'zealous' in apposition. (I'm not sure if two adjectives listed, one after another is technically an apposition or not.) In both cases I decided to keep the phrases together because there is not a new verb establishing a new proposition. In the training video on this passage, the presenter splits both verses. I can see the point on v.13, dividing it as an Idea-Explanation as the second phrase further elaborates or explains the first, though I'm not convinced enough to change mine yet. However, I am less inclined to split the adjective phrase in v.14 as a distinct proposition. I'd love to hear what others (this means you) have to say on this!
