Main point summary
We face trials of all kinds that embolden our faith, even when we don't see. If we don't see it, then we ought to ask God to show us, in his wisdom, how he sharpens us. Ask knowing he is for you and not against you, for one who doubts God purposes for us does not know God who is unwavering and generous without fault. For example, those who are poor but in Christ, you know that as you pursue him over your riches, a heavenly place is reserved for you in which you will one day exalt.

Consider it all joy, my brothers,
whenever you fall around various afflictions/temptations,

because we know that your test of faith is producing endurance.

But if anyone of you is lacking wisdom,

and it will be given to him.

Now let him ask

without hesitation/doubt.
actionmanner
For the one who doubts is like a wave of the seas that is blown with the wind and tossed about.
For that man shall not think that he will receive something from the Lord

Now, let the humble brother boast in his exaltation,
and let the rich man boast in his abasement,

like a flower of the field.
comparison
For the sun rises with scorching heat
and dries up the grass,
and its flower falls,
and the beauty of its face is destroyed.
Likewise/in this manner, the rich man will also be withered up in his pursuits.
alternative
When you're facing trials and things are really difficult
Contrasts below with the man who is double-minded --> God does not shift or change, he is steadfast and when he gives, he gives completely and he gives whole-heartedly, there is no doubt in his giving
Therefore, when you ask, ask without doubt and whole-heartedly, because your God doesn't doubt in his giving, thus, you ought not doubt when you ask.
God refines
Ask for wisdom to see that God is refining.
Example: if you're poor, take in the divine perspective of who you really are (exalted in Christ)
