The Authority of God’s Word

God’s Gospel and Paul’s Gospel are one and the same, because Paul’s Gospel was given to him and authorized by God himself, as exemplified in Christ’s initial revelation to Paul of the Gospel’s truth, in the confirmation of God to Paul as he sojourned apart from others who could influence him, in the [brief] response of Peter, an apostle, and his subsequent embrace of Paul, and in the praise of those who once knew Paul as a persecutor of the church now turned preacher of faith. By this account, any man who claims a contrary Gospel to the one that Paul preaches shall be condemned.

Let me remind you of the gospel: You already know God’s grace and peace through salvation in Christ

For am I now seeking the approval of man,

BECAUSE am I preaching a gospel that comes from and is ordained by man,

or of God?

IN OTHER WORDS, am I trying to appease another, flawed person’s message? (Because they cannot give you a better human message than the one I had as a Jew of Jews).

If I were still trying to please man,

ANSWER: IF I was trying to please sinful people

I would not be a t servant 1 of Christ.

THEN Christ wouldn’t be my master.

For u I would have you know, brothers, that v the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. 1

WHAT I MEAN IS that this gospel isn’t made up by human thinking.

w For I did not receive it from any man,

IN OTHER WORDS, man did not give me what I declare to you

nor was I taught it,

ON THE OTHER HAND, no person taught it to me

but I received it x through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

RATHER, Christ revealed it to me

For you have heard of y my former life in Judaism,

BECAUSE, DESPITE my former life as a Jew,

how z I persecuted the church of God violently

MEANING the life I lived to persecute those who believed in God's gospel

and tried to destroy it.

IN ORDER TO remove its presence from the earth

And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people,

FURTHERMORE, and DESPITE that I was very gifted in being a Jew

so extremely a zealous was I for b the traditions of my fathers.

BECAUSE I was incredibly passionate to prove the ways of those who preceded me

God NEVERTHELESS set me apart

PRIOR TO my birth

FURTHERMORE, I didn’t discuss it with any other person (who might taint it)

nor did I go up to Jerusalem

ALTERNATIVELY, I also did not go to Jerusalem

to those who were apostles before me,

IN OTHER WORDS, to see or speak to the apostles in Jerusalem

but I went away into Arabia,

RATHER, I went to a place with none of the apostles (to hear God)

and returned again to Damascus.

THEN I returned to Damascus (prior to Jerusalem)

Then g after three years I went up to Jerusalem

AFTER SEEING AND UNDERSTANDING THIS GOSPEL, I went to Jerusalem

to visit Cephas

IN ORDER TO see Peter

and remained with him fifteen days.

WHICH RESULTED IN a 15 day stay with him (where He affirmed my calling)

But I saw none of the other apostles except James h the Lord’s brother.

HOWEVER, I saw none of the other apostles except James

(In what I am writing to you, i before God, I do not lie!)

I’m NOT lying

j Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

THEN I began preaching to the Gentiles

And I was still unknown in person to k the churches of Judea

ASTOUNDINGLY, and DESPITE the fact that the Judeans still didn’t know me in person

that are in Christ.

These Judeans who are Christians

They only were hearing it said,

NEVERTHELESS, they heard

“He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”

THAT the persecutor has become the preacher

And they glorified God

RESULTING IN their glorifying God

because of me.

BECAUSE of my God-wrought testimony
