Here is a progression of 4 significant events at the beginning of Jesus' ministry: 1. Jesus arrives from Nazareth and is baptized by John. 2. (And then) Immediately after the baptism, the heavens open, the Spirit descends on Jesus as a dove, and the Father declares his approbation of his beloved Son. 3. (And then) Immediately after that, the Spirit drives Jesus into the wilderness, and Jesus spends 40 days there being tempted by the devil, living with the wild animals and being ministered to by the angels. 4. (And then) after John's arrest, Jesus comes into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom of God, that it is here now and therefore, all who hear this must repent and believe in it.
