For the Lord , the Most High , z is to be feared ,
Because the Covenant God who is the Most High God is to be feared and revered by all people on earth ;

this God is a great King over the whole earth who has no rival nor equal.
He b subdued peoples under us,
This Covenant God and King of the earth conquered rival nations for us, tiny, powerless Israel .
and nations under our feet.
That is, he exalted insignificant Israel above all the nations and put them under our feet.
He chose our c heritage for us,
He hand-picked our inheritance for us from among the lands that were already inhabited by nations greater and stronger than we were.

That inheritance is the pride of Israel, the people whom God loves. Selah.
