Though in the midst of great trouble, David trusted in God and showed it by praying (v4,7) and resting (v5) and looking ahead to the future (v7,8).

O Lord , o how many are my foes !
O YHWH, my covenant God, I have so many enemies and adversaries!
Many are p rising against me;
They are rising up in opposition to me and attacking me,
many are saying of my soul,

that you, God, have abandoned me...that there is no salvation-no deliverance-for me. Selah

All that is to say, I will not be afraid of the many thousands of enemies who are chasing me, surrounding me, and plotting to attack and kill me.
