Main point summary
Since my God is my shepherd, I find satisfaction in Him, I find peace in Him, and I find my eternal home with Him.
Psalms 23:1-6
The Lord is my d shepherd;
The LORD is my keeper, my guardian, my provider;
I shall not e want.
therefore, I won't need anything else.
He makes me lie down in green f pastures.
For, He makes me rest in the meadows,
He leads me beside still waters. 1
And He leads me to the quiet streams.
He g restores my soul.
Also, He refreshes and revives my soul.
He h leads me in i paths of righteousness 1
And He guides me in the ways of right living
for his j name’s sake.
With the purpose of giving Him praise and glory.
Even though I k walk through the valley of l the shadow of death, 1
Even when I walk through suffering, danger, and death,
I will m fear no evil,
I will not fear the evil that lies before me
for n you are with me;
because You, God, are there with me;
your o rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Your shepherd's staff brings me peace and comfort.
You p prepare a table before me
You set a place for me to dine
in q the presence of my enemies;
even with my enemies present!
you r anoint my head with oil;
You anoint my head with oil,
my s cup overflows.
And my cup is overflowing with blessing!
Surely 1 goodness and mercy 2 shall follow me
Therefore, there's no doubt in my mind that the goodness and mercy of God will be with me
all the days of my life,
during my entire life!
and I shall t dwell 3 in the house of the Lord u forever. 4
What's more, I will live in the house of my God for eternity!
When we realize the sufficiency and value of God in Christ, then we will find ourselves content and satisfied in Him.
God's provision is so much more precious than we realize: it is He who will mold us into Christ.
Always remember this! This is His purpose for it all !
This world is becoming increasingly hostile to Christ's church. Find peace in knowing that He is faithful to His people! You will be protected!
David is writing about so much more than material well-being! See above.
Our ultimate assurance.
